This recipe started as a Trader Joe’s copy for their butternut squash and caramelized onion tart (which I’ve never actually tried but have heard SO much buzz about). But as I was making it I thought if we’re putting in this work, let’s get a bit extra and make this look like the tart everyone’s going to ask you about at the holiday party this year.

It’s savory and loaded with flavor and the squash + onions components can be made ahead so when the time comes to assemble you have have it ready in 20.

  • Chef’s knife

  • Cutting board

  • Large baking sheet

  • Small food processor

  • Cheese grater

  • Large stainless steel pan

  • Small frying pan (for brown butter)

  • Piping bag (optional can use a ziploc as well)
