The Thanksgiving salad; It's normally an afterthought and often missed, but it is the 1 "fresh" dish on the table so it is a key component. It breaks up the heavy dishes gives you a breather, or ends your meal if you want just a little bit more. You can also serve it as a starter if you're doing more of a plated "course" dinner. Regardless of who has it, I firmly believe it should still be special. You've come this far with a delectable dinner, don't crap out with a lame salad now.

The salad is also the best dish to outsource, easy to transport and doesn't require the oven to assemble upon arrival. So if you have guests keen to contribute, now is the time!
